I need to keep your personal data in order to be able to provide my professional services in line with the BACP Ethical Framework and in order to contact you when necessary outside of therapy sessions. I do not collect any personal data from you that I do not need in order to do this.

What information will I hold?

The data I hold includes your contact details, information about your GP, your date of birth, and other information relevant to the ongoing therapy sessions such as invoices, correspondence and file notes.

How do I use the information I hold?

The information I collect is managed and stored by myself only, and used solely for the purposes of providing you with therapy and fulfilling my statutory and professional requirements. No third parties have access to your personal data unless the law allows them to do so. I have a data protection regime in place to oversee the effective and secure processing of your personal data.

Where do I keep your information?

Any personal information which is stored on my computer is password protected and only accessed by me. The computer has firewalls and anti-virus software. Any written paper copies containing your information are kept in a locked filing cabinet which is only accessed by me.  Your mobile phone number is saved on my phone for contact purposes only and is saved under your initials.

How long do I keep your information?

I will keep your personal information for the duration of our work together and for 5 years following the date of our last contact, after which I will destroy any data in my possession. I am required under UK tax law to keep a copy of invoices I have sent you, which have your name on, for a minimum of 6 years, after which time they will also be destroyed.

What are your rights?

If at any point you believe the information I process on you is incorrect, you can request to see this information, and have it corrected or deleted. If you wish to raise a complaint about how I have handled your personal data, you can contact me to have the matter investigated.
